clinic is Nov. 1
The University of Hawaii at Hilo softball team will hold a clinic and scrimmage at its softball field Nov. 1.
First-year coach Peejay Brun will start the day with an 11 a.m. intra-squad game, and then the team will hold a two-hour clinic for ages 6 and up.
The cost is $25 per person or $20 per person for siblings or groups of six or more.
Space is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Hilo Little League

Hilo Little League opens its fall training, education and development program for minor (9-10) and major (11-12) divisions for baseball and softball.
The league begins Oct. 25 and runs through December.
Player and team registration, medical forms, proof of residency requirements and coach applications cane be obtained by calling 987-8447 or visiting www.hilolittleleague.com.
UHH run/walk set for Dec. 6
The University of Hawaii at Hilo will hold its inaugural Holiday Lava Run/Walk on Dec. 6.
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on the Campus Center Plaza, with the race kicking off at 8 a.m.
According to a release, “the 5-kilometer course is designed to give participants of all ages the chance to explore the campus in a family-friendly, festive run/walk.”
Teams must have at least four participants, and registration is $30.

Golf tourney Oct. 26 at Muni
Hawaii Island Golf Association/Hilo Muni Golf Club will hold a six-person team tournament Oct. 26, at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
All eligible players must be HIGA members The first 24 teams entered by Tuesday are eligible.
The entry fee is $120 per six-person team. The fee covers the cost of a $6 bento lunch at Kim’s restaurant. Green fees and golf cart charges are not included.
